DON’T BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF

God can bring good even out of your mistakes. Your finite mind tends to look backward, longing to undo decisions you have come to regret. This is a waste of time and energy, leading only to frustration. Instead of floundering in the past, release your mistakes to God.

Look to God for trust, anticipating that God’s infinite creativity can weave both good choices and bad into a lovely design.

Because we are human, we will continue to make mistakes. Thinking that you should live an error-free life is symptomatic of pride. Your failures can be a source of blessing, humbling you and giving you empathy for other people in their weaknesses.

Best of all, failure highlights your dependence on God. God is able to bring beauty out of the morass of your mistakes.

Trust God and watch to see what He can do.

Learning English Is A Lifestyle and Not An Act

The phrase “learning English is a lifestyle not an act” emphasizes that learning a language, particularly English, requires a long-term commitment and a daily effort, rather than a one-time or sporadic activity. Here are some detailed meanings and examples of how this phrase can apply in different situations:

  1. Consistency is key: To learn English, one needs to make it a part of their daily routine. This means dedicating time each day to learn new vocabulary, practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English. Consistency is crucial to building language skills over time. For instance, one can listen to English podcasts on their daily commute, read English news articles, and watch English movies in their free time to consistently immerse themselves in the language.
  2. Language learning is a gradual process: Language acquisition is not an event or an act but a continuous process. Learning English requires a long-term commitment to build a solid foundation of grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. One needs to set realistic goals and practice regularly to achieve fluency. For example, setting a goal to learn five new English words each day, and using them in sentences can be a way to slowly and steadily build vocabulary.
  3. Learning English is a lifestyle choice: Learning English requires adopting a lifestyle that incorporates the language into everyday activities. It is not just about studying for a test or an exam but rather a continuous effort to improve communication skills. One can attend English-speaking events, join English language groups, and even engage in English conversations with friends and family members. By integrating English into their daily life, learners can achieve fluency in a more meaningful and effective way.
  4. A willingness to make mistakes: Learning a new language can be daunting, but making mistakes is a part of the learning process. Learners need to be willing to make mistakes and learn from them to improve their skills. For instance, speaking English with a native speaker, even if it’s not perfect, can be a valuable learning opportunity.
  5. Learning English as a lifelong journey: Learning English is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey. Even after achieving fluency, one can continue to learn new words, phrases, and nuances of the language. Learning English can be a fulfilling and enjoyable experience that opens doors to new opportunities, experiences, and relationships.

Overall, the phrase “learning English is a lifestyle not an act” emphasizes that language learning requires a long-term commitment, a willingness to make mistakes, and a dedication to integrating the language into everyday life. By making English a part of their lifestyle, learners can achieve fluency and continue to improve their skills throughout their lifetime.

Who Are You Walking With?

Its not important how we spend our time,

but with whom we spend it.

The only thing that’s keeping some people from a new level of their destiny is wrong friendships.

You may have to prune off some relationships that are not adding value to your life.

Don’t hang around people who are not going anywhere, who have no goals or dreams, who comprise and take the easy way out.

If you tolerate mediocrity, it will rub off on you.

If you hand out with jealous, critical, unhappy people, you will end up jealous, critical and unhappy.

You cannot become who God created you to be hanging out with them.

Take a look at your friends. If your friends are winners, leaders, givers and successful, if they have integrity and a spirit of excellence and are positive and motivated, those good qualities are going to rub off on you. Invest your time with them.  They’re making you better.

Sioux Indian Story

“My grandfather took me to the fish pond on the farm when I was about seven, and he told me to throw a stone into the water. He told me to watch the circles created by the stone. Then he asked me to think of myself as that stone person. “You may create lots of splashes in your life but the waves that come from those splashes will disturb the peace of all your fellow creatures,” he said. “Remember that you are responsible for what you put in your circle and that circle will also touch many other circles. You will need to live in a way that allows the good that comes from your circle to send the peace of that goodness to others. The splash that comes from anger or jealousy will send those feelings to other circles. You are responsible for both.” That was the first time I realized each person creates the inner peace or discord that flows out into the world. We cannot create world peace if we are riddled with inner conflict, hatred, doubt, or anger. We radiate the feelings and thoughts that we hold inside, whether we speak them or not. Whatever is splashing around inside of us is spilling out into the world, creating beauty or discord with all other circles of life. – Unknown

Be Unique

“If you celebrate your differentness, the world will, too. It believes exactly what you tell it.” — Victoria Moran

It’s one thing to think we do, or say we want to, but it’s another thing to really live life on our terms.

After all, It’s hard to stand out, if you’re too busy fitting in.

The problem with fitting in, is who you are fitting in with.  If you’re trying to fit in with most people or trying to be normal, or like everybody else, that leads to a lackluster life, and it’s no way to rise and shine.

Most People:

Most people over eat and eat based off pleasure vs. health. Most people don’t have enough energy to go after their dreams and goals. Most people sleep in and have no morning routine. Most people make excuses instead of progress. Most people focus on the negative vs. the positive. Most people spend more money than they make. Most people talk about success vs. take action. Most people go to college, go into debt, and get an unrelated job afterwards. Most people pray for weekends and hate Mondays. Most people sell themselves short. Most people associate with people who let them off the hook versus hold them accountable.

If you want the normal life, with normal income, normal problems, and normal experiences, then model from most people.

Don’t Be Normal

Normal doesn’t lead you to where your greatness is.

Normal is waking at 6 a.m., fighting traffic, and working eight hours.  Normal is to slave at a job Monday through Friday, save 10%, and repeat for 50 years.  Normal is to buy everything on credit.  Normal is to believe the illusion that the stock market will make you rich.  Normal is to believe that a faster car and a bigger house will make you happy. You’re conditioned to accept normal based on society’s already corrupted definition of wealth, and because of it, normal itself is corrupted.  Normal is modern day slavery.  Don’t be normal.

Do the Opposite

If you don’t know where to start, one of the best ways is to simply do the opposite.  Take a look at what everybody else is doing and then do the opposite.

I’ve grown up trying to fit in because I thought that’s what we were supposed to do.  You get reprimanded and disciplined if you speak up, act out, or try to be ‘different’ in school.  Well, in entrepreneurship and business, it’s a great way to separate yourself from the herd.  When I say go against the grain, I mean stand out versus fit in, and, instead of comparing yourself to others, differentiate from others.

Earl Nightingale was one of the first business philosophers of our time and he said something that I’ll never forget:

‘If you really want success, and you don’t have any mentors or guidance, you can get a head start by looking at what everybody else is doing an do the opposite.’

When I was at rock bottom and felt like I had no way out, I realized that most people would have quit, which is the exact reason I didn’t.  I often think, What would the majority do? I then continue doing the opposite because I don’t want to end up like the majority.“

Do What Other People are Unwilling to Do

Another way to stand out from the crowd and differentiate from the herd is to do what others aren’t willing to do.

Don’t be like most people.  I know deep down no one wants to be typical or average, and everyone wants to be special and different.  Here’s the problem: we all do the same thing over and over.  The majority of us live like one another and then wonder why we continually fail to achieve any real results or success in our lives.  We follow each other’s lead and rarely break the mold.  Your life will become much more convenient when you take this seriously.  All the greats in our society life life to their own choosing, not other people’s.  One way to be outstanding and become more valuable is to do what others are unwilling to do.  I’d rather go broke building my dreams, than just get by living somebody else’s.

Think, Act, and Actually Live Differently

It’s one thing to say you want to be different, but it’s another thing to actually live and breathe it.

It’s one thing to say you’re different, but it’s another to think, act, and actually live differently.  Most people are struggling.  MBAs are selling shoes during the day and waiting tables at night.  College grads are pouring coffee and living at home until they’re twenty-nine.  Retirement age has morphed from sixty-fix to fix feet under, ’til death-does -employment-part.’  Yet we have 19-year-olds in our Game Changes Academy who love what they do and are on track to retire by age thirty.  It’s because they are doing things differently, and have escaped the herd.  I’d strongly suggest you do the same.

Be different by design.

Boldly go where you know you need to.

Express yourself the way nobody else can express you.

Dare to be different in your thoughts, actions, and how you live your life on your own terms.

Sitawa………my everyday heroine

Beacon of Hope

 No storm,hurricane or whirlwind

nor any tempest that nature may hurl at her

can keep her from her pursuit of excellence

for she keeps still in the midst of chaos

and conquers her adverseries not by making them smaller

but by making herself bigger

with each new sunrise she starts anew

asking not what the world needs but what she can do for the world

rising above each challenge

not following where the path may lead

but going where there isnt one and leaving a trail

predicting her future by creating it herself

depicting a incon of hope and beacon of joy

reminding us to let our hopes and not our hurts shape our future

and although we can’t go back and start a new beginning

we can start today and make a new ending

they say, in the end, it’s not going to matter how many breaths you took

but how many moments took your breath away

i say, what a better example than thee…………………………………….

a poem to celebrate Sitawa for who she is and what she is constantly becoming.

blessings……jambu.

Difficulties in Life

There are few positions in life in which difficulties have not to be encountered. These difficulties are, however, our best instructors, as our mistakes often form our best experience. We learn wisdom from failure more than from success. We often discover what will do by finding out what will not do. My dad used to say that he had become all the better acquainted with the country from having the good luck sometimes to lose his way. Great thoughts, discoveries, inventions have very generally been nurtured in hardship, often pondered over in sorrow and established with difficulty.

What Counts

It isn’t the money you’re making,
it isn’t the clothes you wear,
And it isn’t the skill of your good right hand which makes folks really care.
It’s the smile on your face and
the light of your eye and the burdens that you bear.

Most any old man can tell you, most any old man at all,
Who has lived through all sorts of weather, winter and summer and fall,
That riches and fame are shadows that dance on the garden wall.

It’s how do you live and neighbour, how do you work and play,
It’s how do you say “good morning” to the people along the way,
And it’s how do you face your troubles whenever your skies are Gray.

It’s you, from the dawn to nighttime; you when the day is fair,
You when the storm is raging – how do you face despair?
It is you that the world discovers, whatever the clothes you wear.

You to the end of the journey,
kindly and brave and true,
The best and the worst of you gleaming in all that you say and do,
And the ting that counts isn’t money,
or glory, or power, but YOU!

It Couldn’t Be Done

Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it”;
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quitting,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it.

Things Work Out

It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.

Because it rains when we wish it wouldn’t,

Because men do what they often shouldn’t,
Because crops fail, and plans go wrong-
Some of us grumble all day long.
But somehow, in spite of the care and doubt,
It seems at last that things work out.

Because we lose where we hoped to gain,
Because we suffer a little pain,
Because we must work when we’d like to play-
Some of us whimper along life’s way.
But somehow, as day always follows the night,
Most of our troubles work out all right.

Because we cannot forever smile,
Because we must trudge in the dust awhile,
Because we think that the way is long-
Some of us whimper that life’s all wrong.
But somehow we live and our sky grows bright,
And everything seems to work out all right.

So bend to your trouble and meet your care,
For the clouds must break, and the sky grow fair.
Let the rain come down, as it must and will,
But keep on working and hoping still.
For in spite of the grumblers who stand about,
Somehow, it seems, all things work out.

My Creed

The high-minded man must care more for the truth than for what people think.

To live as gently as I can;
To be, no matter where, a man;
To take what comes of good or ill
And cling to faith and honor still;
To do my best, and let that stand
The record of my brain and hand;
And then, should failure come to me,
Still work and hope for victory.

To have no secret place wherein
I stoop unseen to shame or sin;
To be the same when I’m alone
As when my every deed is known
To live undaunted, unafraid
Of any step that I have made;
To be without pretense or sham
Exactly what men think I am.

To leave some simple mark behind
To keep my having lived in mind,
If enmity to aught I show,
To be an honest, generous foe,
To play my little part, nor whine
That greater honors are not mine.

This, I believe, is all I need
For my philosophy and creed.

Believing in You

Never stop believing in yourself.
When others doubt, don’t you.
Do what you love to do,
No one knows better than you.

Life is too short to live others’ dreams
Follow your own dream
Push yourself to reach your goals
And live the life you once dreamed.

Trust your instincts.
Be true to yourself.
You know what is right for you.
Never give up or give in.

Forget the words “I don’t know how”.
You can learn,
You can research,
You can do.

Your mind is powerful.
When you believe you can.
You will find a way
You won’t waste a day.

Persist and persevere
Do not fear
Because if you believe in you
You will find dreams can come true.

May all your dreams turn into goals,
Believe in yourself.
And remember, all of life is a choice.
The decision is up to you.

Believe in Yourself, Dare To Be Whatever You Want To Be!

Believe In Yourself

There may be days when you get up in the morning
and things aren’t the way you had hoped they would be,
that’s when you have to tell yourself
that things will get better.

There are times when people disappoint you and let you down,
but those are the times when you must remind yourself
to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your
life focused on believing in yourself
and all that you are capable of.

There will be challenges to face and
changes to make in your life,
and it is up to you to accept them.

Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you.

It may not be easy at times,
but in those times of struggle
you will find a stronger sense of who you are,
so when the days come that are filled with
frustration and unexpected responsibilities,
remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be,
because the challenges and changes will only help you to
find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.

Keep believing in yourself.

Dreamer

Climbing higher mountains

I will not descend downward

Until after I have conquered that fear

Clasping stars within my hands

They shall not stray from my touch

I am a dreamer

My wings lie in my mind

Where they allow me to divide the clouds

As I ascend through their cotton-like tufts

One cannot pierce my heart with any arrow

It is filled with pure bliss and compassion

No one will ever be able to seize that from me

Although at times my eyes may look wounded

My strength has never fled.

Upward

Glad that I live am I;
That the sky is blue;
Glad for the country lanes,
And the fall of dew.

After the sun the rain;
After the rain the sun;
This is the way of life,
Till the work be done.

All that we need to do,
Be we low or high,
Is to see that we grow
Nearer the sky

Just One

Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.

One song can spark a moment,

One flower can wake the dream
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.

One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal

One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey.
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,

One heart can know what’s true,

One life can
make a difference,
You see,
it’s up to you!

I Wanted To Change The World

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world.

I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family.

Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world.”
